PEPP alumni appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation

We are delighted to announce that 1st cohort PEPP alumni, Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax, has been appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, The United Republic of Tanzania.

Dr. Tax studied at PEPP as a Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJWBGSP) scholar. After finishing her master’s program studies with PEPP, she continued on to our doctoral program with support from the University and obtained a doctoral degree from the University of Tsukuba. She served as the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of East African Cooperation from 2008 to 2013, before she was appointed as the Executive Secretary of the Southern African Development Community in 2013. On October 3rd, 2022, she was appointed minister of foreign affairs of the United Republic of Tanzania.
