Abstract:

What types of macroeconomic models do we use at central banks? How do central bankers use these models for economic forecasts and various simulation analyses? This seminar provides answers to these questions by using examples of major central banks. In this seminar, we begin with  a brief introduction to the overview of macroeconomic modeling at central banks, and then we focus on the case of the Bank of Japan’s main macroeconomic model, i.e., the Quarterly Japanese Economic Model.
